The 6th Russian World Folklore Festival, hosted by the Government of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, CIOFF International and CIOFF Russia, was postponed to July 3-10, 2021 due to the pandemic. On this day, Russian Ufa became the center of world folklore!

Amina Shafikova, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, said: "The Republic of Bashkortostan hosted an international event of great significance, bringing together representatives of 37 countries of the world and more than 1,000 participants at such a difficult time. Members of the organizing committee and the media worked around the clock. They are strongly supported by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, the Housing and Public Services, the Trade, Media and Mass Media Agency, the National Youth Council, the National Policy Committee. More than 2,700 people participated in the march, setting two world records – the circle dance by representatives of 57 countries and 71 nationalities, which was recorded in the world record".

Let's take a look back at the recently concluded CIOFF Russian World Folklore Celebration!

First, let's take a look at the history of the world's folk celebrations:

The World Folklore Festival is CIOFF's® main event and is held every four years. Folklore celebration is an Olympic of folklore creativity, everything is based on mutual respect, harmony and communication among the people of the world.

July 3 – July 10, 2021


The opening ceremony of the 6th World Folklore Festival will take place on 3 July 2021 in Ufa. The next day, July 4, 2021, the main stage of the International Arts Festival, "Folklore Heart", will kick off. Each day of the concert will begin with a performance by a folkloric group and end with a performance by a world-famous group. Among them are the People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Nadezhda Babkina, and the Russian Song and Dance Troupe, singer Manizha, Serbian filmmaker, actor and musician Emir Kusturica, among others.

During the festival, 61 concerts were held in 28 concert venues on the main stage of the "Folklore Heart" in 22 municipalities of the Republic of Ufa and Bashkortostan. The participants traveled about 10,000 kilometers in the Republic of Bashkortostan with a concert program. More than 300,000 people participated in the world folklore event.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to the participants of CIOFF's sixth Russian folk festival.


Television and webcast coverage is extensive. The festival received 10 million views. More than 5,500 copies of materials were published by 53 national media. More than 1700 articles were published on foreign social networks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the CIS Federal Affairs Department and CIOFF®️.

The success of this grand art festival is held with an attitude of cultural inheritance, building a bridge of friendship full of hope among participants from all representative countries. Looking forward to the next session we can jointly demonstrate the charm of culture on the international stage!
